The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in the Kingdom of The Netherlands headed by the Ambassador, H.E. Irene F. M. Kasyanju along with embassy staff were present at the launch of a Book called, “A Taste of Tanzania” and opening of artworks exhibition about Tanzania at the Art Gallery of WTC, The Hague.

A Taste of Tanzania’, is a beautiful 343-page Coffee Table Book filled with stunning pictures, engrossing tales that takes you on an incredible and sensorial voyage through Tanzania. This book is a wonderful introduction to the beauty and especially tourism and culture of Tanzania.

The premise of the Coffee Table Book is a collection of thoughts of a Team of colleagues led by Dirk Janssens and his wife Inneke Onsea, who lived and worked with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) in Arusha, Tanzania, several years ago. Other members of the Team who are also here with us this evening include, Stephen Walckiers, Author of the Book, and Wim Demessemaekers, a passionate Photographer who took all the pictures of “A Taste of Tanzania”

Another member of the team, and a famous Chef, Axel Janssens is currently catering on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Axel established a famous Machweo Restaurant in Arusha, in addition to two other businesses established earlier by the Team namely Onsea House Cottage and Signature Catering East Africa. Photographs taken by Wim play a crucial role in giving a glimpse of the country and its people. Quite often, we see images that come from our beloved continent being outdated and less than favourable. But this Book gives the world, beginning with you all in this room, an accurate and authentic first look into Tanzania.

The authors went beyond the traditional touristic attractions by discovering different Tanzanian delicious recipes in the book.

“A Taste of Tanzania”, and Artworks Exhibition will run at this Art Gallery until February 9th. You are very welcome to visit again with your families and friends to experience these attractions offered by Tanzania, one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Congratulations to the whole team!
