On 30th of June 2020, the Ambassador of Tanzania to the Netherlands, Mrs. Irene Kasyanju, met with a group of Dutch doctors from ZGT hospital in Hengelo city and Philips representatives to discuss the construction of a cardiovascular clinic in Kilimanjaro region (KCMC Hospital) in Tanzania. During the meeting, Ambassador Kasyanju expressed her admiration and thanks for the initiative 'Heart for Tanzania,' which will not only help KCMC hospital in Kilimanjaro, but also other hospitals and the whole northern region of Tanzania.
The initiator, retired cardiologist Dr. Salah Said, hopes that the construction of the clinic that will be built at the KCMC, the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center, can start in mid-2021. The symbolic foundation stone was laid in November last year, but much money is still needed to realize the multi-million-dollar clinic.
In the autumn, the cookbook 'De Twente & Tanzanian Kitchen' will be on sale, which contains many recipes from famous top chefs from Tanzania and The Netherlands. The proceeds from the book will also benefit the construction of the cardiovascular clinic. A sample of the cookbook was handed over to Ambassador Kasyanju by Dr. Said that day.
